KUCHING, July 18: The Rotary Club of Bintulu Central (RCBC) and Latter-Day Saints (LDS) Charities distributed 48 pieces of medical equipment, including a blood analysis system, haemoglobin analyzer, haematology analyzer, and urine analyzer, to 12 rural clinics in the Bintulu Division as part of their initiative to equip all health clinics, regardless of location, with basic health screening services.
According to a RCBC press release, the project is worth RM1,403,400 and is part of a series of projects themed ‘Hope’.
“RCBC has partnered with LDS Charities since April 2020 to launch a series of projects under the theme of ‘Hope’.
“We recognise the need to compliment the government’s efforts. Our focus as of late has been on donating medical and health equipment to rural health service facilities, with the aim of improving the overall health and wellbeing of our community in Sarawak.”
RCBC and LDS Charities donated medical equipment to 152 rural clinics in Sarawak over the last year as part of the Hope delivery series.
“Today (July 17), we are thrilled to announce the handover of 48 additional pieces of equipment in the Bintulu District alone, which assist in establishing mini labs for a total 12 rural clinics.
“This crucial initiative ensures that all health clinics, regardless of their location, will be equipped to provide basic health screening services.”
RCBC also noted that Bintulu currently has only one hospital, 12 health clinics, one community clinic, and one maternal and child clinic.
The collaboration between RCBC and LDS Charities aims to close the gaps in rural healthcare and provide assistance to less privileged individuals. — DayakDaily
