BETONG, Aug 8: A blaze at the Betong District Office broke out while construction workers were conducting roof replacement works this morning.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO) was notified at 8.32am.
In the incident, seven construction workers were in the mist of cutting some parts of the roof with grinders when the fibre lining and sections of the roof truss caught fire.
Although the fire did not affect the whole structure of the 964-square-metre building, firefighters said 75.24 square metres were damaged.
At the time of incident, there were 31 people in the building but no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
Eight firefighters carried out the operations and the fire was brought under full control by 8.48am. — DayakDaily
