Roland Sagah raises international students’ visa application issue to Higher Education Ministry

KUCHING, Feb 10: Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn has raised the issue of international students’ visa application to study in Sarawak during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Higher Education in Putrajaya recently.

Roland Sagah led a delegation from MEITD including Assistant Talent Development Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Assistant Education and Innovation Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee, permanent secretary to MEITD Datu Kameri Affendi and other officers to meet with the Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.

According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), among the issues discussed during the meeting include Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), higher learning institutions as well as potential collaborations with the Federal government.

The delegation from Sarawak also paid a courtesy call on Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Dato Sri Dr Adham Baba.

The purpose of the visit was to further discuss matters in the field of science, technology and innovation which Sarawak can develop and explore that are geared towards deepening the close collaboration between MEITD and MOSTI.

The meeting also discussed programmes to be implemented in Sarawak and ways to commercialise products that have been developed which were among MEITD’s focus agenda.

The MEITD delegation also visited the Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (Talent Corp) where they were welcomed by the group chief executive officer (CEO) Thomas Mathew. — DayakDaily
