SRI AMAN, May 7: Bringing together participants from 19 schools, ROBOCLASH Challenges 2026 is nurturing a new generation of young talents in robotics and drone technology across Sarawak.
Organised by Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), the programme gave students early exposure to science, technology and robotics innovation while encouraging creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
UTS said the initiative will continue to expand, with the next edition scheduled to be held in Serian, according to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
The second edition of the event, held at Sri Aman Civic Centre on May 2, continued promoting robotics innovation through a series of interactive and competitive challenges for students.
Among the main highlights were the Drone Soccer, Sumo Robot and Drone Obstacle categories.
In the Drone Soccer category, Johnson Teo Wen Hao, Jonas Teo Wen Yao and Dylan Pui Chern Yong emerged as champions.
Clerent Frank Harris, Alston Jalak Collins and Emma Wanda Mayang Wellesley finished second, while Mohammad Fayyadh Haneef Mohd Fazil Hanafi, Ammizar Rafif Azrol and Muhammad Zullmukris Muhammad Sulaiman secured third place.
Sebastian Chen Zhu An, Solomon Chen Zhu Le and Jayden Ngu Khien Pheng placed fourth.
Meanwhile, Ariel Taylor Andy Newton and Julius Meier Hayek Medecci Lineil captured the championship title in the Drone Obstacle category.
Jody Teo Wen Cheng and Jayden Sim Zhi Heng finished second, followed by Jarrett Bong Zhen Hong and Lucas Ho Shaw Qi in third place, while Bernice Bong Xin Thong and Chung Sze Jing received consolation prizes.
Participants also earned merit points under the Physical, Sports and Co-curricular Activity Assessment (PAJSK), adding value to their co-curricular achievements. — DayakDaily
