MIRI, April 28: Motorists plying the Padang Kerbau Bypass road are asked to be patient while the Pan Borneo Highway road construction and maintenance project is underway.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin stated that the Ministry of Works (KKR) is currently actively carrying out maintenance and construction work to upgrade Jalan Pan Borneo, including the closure and maintenance of the nearby new Miri River Bridge.

“Allow some time for the construction project. The road construction and maintenance project is expected to be completed within two to three weeks,” he explained.

He stated this after inspecting the site at the Padang Kerbau shortcut in Miri on Tuesday (April 26) following a public complaint about the severe congestion at the location.

Meanwhile, Lee, who is also a Senadin assemblyman, revealed that a new traffic light plan at the Eastwood Industrial junction has been proposed to the Public Works Department (JKR) in order to make it easier for drivers to make a closer U-turn. — DayakDaily
