KUCHING, Dec 27: The Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD) will conduct a five-day ‘Operasi Lancar’ from Dec 29, 2025, to Jan 2, 2026, to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce the risk of road accidents during the year-end holidays.

According to Kuching district police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the operation is being carried out following the increase in the number of vehicles and visitors coming to Kuching City during the school holidays and public holidays.

“Ten main routes in the city will be prioritised for monitoring and control by the police, including Jalan Gambier, Jalan Wan Alwi, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Jalan Tun Jugah, and Jalan Tabuan.

“In addition, other roads involved are Jalan Stutong Baru, Jalan Setia Raja, Jalan Pending, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakop, and Jalan Rock,” he said in a statement.

The public is advised to plan their journeys early, avoid peak hours, use alternative routes, and comply with instructions from on-duty traffic personnel.

“Road users are also reminded to drive responsibly, avoid committing traffic offences, and always practice patience for the safety of everyone,” he said.

He added that public cooperation is crucial in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow in Kuching City throughout the year-end holiday season. — DayakDaily
