Road closures in Kuching on Sept 28 in conjunction with Para Sukma 2024 closing ceremony

KUCHING, Sept 26: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Kuching District has announced traffic management plans for the Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) XXI Sarawak 2024 closing ceremony, which will begin at 7pm on Saturday (Sept 28) at the Indoor Stadium in Petra Jaya here.

According to a notice, to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic, the PDRM Kuching District will implement road closures along the following routes beginning at 3pm:

1. Kesuma Resort Roundabout
2. Intersection from Sumber Alam to Indoor Stadium
3. Access road to the Indoor Stadium from Stadium Road (in front)
4. Access road to the Indoor Stadium from Stadium Road (behind)
5. Access road to the Indoor Stadium from Diplomatic Road (in front of Aquatic Centre)
6. Access road to Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre (1)
7. Access road to Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre (2)
8. Access road to Padang Gasing
9. Diplomatic Road (Squash Centre)
10. The entry lane to the bus parking area (next to Sarawak Stadium)
11. Stadium Ring Road / public parking junction

Visitors attending the event are advised to use the following routes to reach designated public parking areas:

1. From SESCO Roundabout, it is recommended to make a U-turn at Casuarina Roundabout and then proceed via Casuarina Road to the Stadium Ring Road.
2. Vehicles travelling via Diplomatic Road can directly access the parking area behind Sarawak Stadium.

For exiting the stadium area, the following routes are advised:

1. Vehicles from Sarawak Stadium parking should exit using Diplomatic Road heading towards Demak.
2. Vehicles from Stadium Ring Road should exit via Stadium Ring Road towards Casuarina Road.

PDRM Kuching District further requested the public to refrain from parking along the roadside and to plan their journey in advance, choosing alternative routes to minimise congestion.
