Road closure in Kuching for Le Tour de Langkawi on Feb 7

KUCHING, Jan 30: Several roads in the capital city will be closed on Feb 7 (Friday) to make way for stage one of the prestigious Asian cycling tour race, Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL).

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the 100km race will begin and end at Padang Merdeka.

The race will begin at 8.30am until 11.30am.

Road closure will commence from 7am and reopen in stages until the event finish.

“Cyclists will use Jalan Tun Hj Openg, Jalan Barrack, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Jalan Market, Jalan Gambier, Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman, Jalan Abell, Sri Aman roundabout, Jalan Central Timur, Jalan Ong Kee Hui, Jalan Crookshank, Civic Centre, Badruddin and RTM traffic light, Satok flyover, Satok bridge, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub, Abg Hj Kipali roundabout, Samariang roundabout, Jalan Tun Abd Rahman Yaakub, Sesco roundabout, Jalan Bako, Medan Hamidah roundabout, Jalan Keruing Bako traffic light, Jalan Demak, Jalan Kpg Bako, Senai port roundabout, Bintawa roundabout, Merican Salleh and Tanah Putih clinic roundabout, iCom square roundabout, Sekama-Pending traffic light, Jalan Sekama, Jalan Mendu, Jalan Batu Lintang, Wisma Saberkas traffic light and Jalan Tun Abang Hj Openg,” Alexson said at a press conference today.

He also advised road users to plan their journey by choosing alternative roads, avoid passing through the roads involved in the closure and to obey the instructions of the police personnel on duty.

“As this is an international event involving cyclists from within Malaysia and overseas, we urge road users to corporate with with us to ensure a smooth event in Kuching,” he added. — DayakDaily
