KUCHING, June 28: The federal government will provide RM500 financial assistance to persons with special needs (OKUs) for a period of three months.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the assistance would benefit the OKUs who are unemployed and not a recipient of existing Disabled Workers Allowance assistance.
“For that, RM30 million is allocated to benefit a total of 20,000 OKUs,” he said when announcing the People’s Protection and Economic Recovery Package (Pemulih) in a live telecast today.
The government will also implement the General Initiative Networking Programme (JITU) for the purpose of providing basic business capital assistance and guiding the OKUs and homeless in business.
“A total of RM20 million is allocated for this purpose and is expected to benefit more than 40,000 individuals,” he added. — DayakDaily
