BAU, March 19: The Musi-Buso bridge project will be fully completed by end of this month and open to public use before Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

The RM5 million bailey bridge project started on March 4, 2019 and Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep is satisfied with the progress and quality, despite a slight delay due to Covid 19 pandemic.

He said the completion of the project marked a historic moment for the villagers of Kpg Musi, Kpg Buso, Kpg Seberang Buso and Kpg Buso Cina.

“When we mention about this project (Musi-Buso bailey bridge), it will have a great impact not only for the four villages, but benefit the people from Siniawan, Serembu and Singai areas as it provides connectivity for the whole of Bau,” he said after launching the project today.

According to Henry, the project is the first in the state to use design from China, adding bailey bridges normally used British design.

He said the bridge would have additional features like safety netting on each side and the erecting of traffic lights at both ends.

“The allocation of the project is RM5 million and we have spent about RM3.8 million, so the remaining amount will be used for putting up such safety features,” he said.

He also pointed out that upgrading of the road from Musi to the Pan Borneo Highway will be carried with an allocation of RM12 million.

He said upgrading of the four-kilometre road is a matter of urgency due to the completion of the bridge.

“The bridge project has been completed, so the upgrading of road is seen as urgent, so I hope that Public Works Department (JKR) can expedite the project (upgrading of the road),” Henry stressed.

Henry also said he is satisfied with the progress of the RM10 million Tondong bridge project, which he disclosed was about 65 per cent completed. — DayakDaily
