TEBEDU, Sept 4: The RM48 million Jalan Temong–Tepoi–Sadir Phase 2 project, covering a 6.6-kilometre stretch, is now progressing steadily and targeted for full completion by August 2027.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada said the project, which officially commenced on June 6, 2025, has so far achieved 1.45 per cent physical progress and is expected to be completed within its 26-month implementation period.
“The project involves the construction of culverts, a proper drainage system and solar-powered street lights, which will enhance connectivity and safety for rural communities once completed.
“Both the contractor and the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, as the implementing agency, have highlighted potential challenges, particularly weather conditions and hilly terrain, which could affect progress,” he said during a site visit on Wednesday (Sept 3).
Nevertheless, he assured that JKR and the contractor have given their commitment to do their utmost to deliver the project on time, with weekly progress monitoring being carried out to ensure work remains aligned with the original schedule.
Dr Simon added that with the completion of this stretch, Phase 2 of the project linking Kampung Tepoi to Kampung Sadir should immediately follow to further improve rural road access. — DayakDaily
