RM40 mln Lachau police station project approved under 12MP

KUCHING, May 15: The proposed construction of a permanent police station in Pekan Lachau, Sri Aman, has been approved under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Border Projects for Sabah and Sarawak under the Fifth Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the project, which comes under the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters, will be implemented by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR).

“The proposed site for Lachau Police Station will be located at Lot 1252, Block 12, Selanjan Land District, covering 3.2 hectares under the Federal Lands Commissioner.

“The site is designated for the construction of both administrative buildings and residential quarters,” he said when responding to Datuk Mong Dagang (GPS-Bukit Begunan) during question-and-answer session in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.

In reply to supplementary questions on the project scope and estimated cost, Abdul Karim revealed that the total approved allocation for the project is RM40,703,880.

He said the scope of works includes the construction of an administrative building, 14 units of Class F quarters, and two units of Class E quarters.

Other facilities planned under the project are an electrical substation, electrical block, sewage treatment plant, surau, water tank tower and pump house, onsite detention pond, vehicle garage, guard house, as well as a defensive bunker or fortification. — DayakDaily
