KUCHING, Oct 21: Sarawak has expended RM298 million, or 66 per cent of its RM450 million allocation for the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) this year, with 988 of the 3,935 approved projects completed as of September 2026.
Deputy Premier and Second Minister for Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the programme remained a key driver of rural development, particularly in addressing local infrastructure needs and improving access to essential facilities.
“For 2026, 3,935 RTP projects with an approved allocation of RM450 million have been approved,” he said when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting here today.
Uggah added that more than 11,000 RTP projects had been successfully delivered throughout Sarawak under the previous Malaysia Plan.
Meanwhile, under Projek Rakyat, RM169 million had been spent as of September against an approved allocation of RM353 million.
He said expenditure under Projek Rakyat was expected to improve further by the end of the year.
Uggah said Sarawak remained committed to ensuring development reached every community, with the needs and aspirations of the people at the centre of its development agenda.
He added that Projek Rakyat would continue to play a significant role in addressing critical development priorities and delivering tangible benefits throughout the State. —DayakDaily
