LIMBANG, Oct 29: The federal government has approved RM28.7 million for the construction of a new Road Transport Department (JPJ) complex for its Limbang branch, including three blocks of residential quarters for staff.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new JPJ Limbang Branch Complex was officiated by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook on Wednesday (Oct 28), with Deputy Transport Minister and Limbang MP Datuk Hasbi Habibollah also in attendance.
The project aims to provide a more conducive working environment for JPJ personnel while improving operational efficiency and service delivery to residents of Limbang and surrounding areas.
Scheduled for completion within 24 months, the contractor has been urged to shorten the construction period to 18 months without compromising the project’s specifications or quality.
In his speech, Loke expressed hope that the complex would feature a modern interior design similar to JPJ offices at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan and Putrajaya, creating a more comfortable and customer-friendly environment for the public.
He also highlighted the site’s potential to accommodate a vehicle inspection centre in the future, enabling residents to access a wider range of vehicle-related services at a single location.
Also present at the ceremony were JPJ director-general Dato’ Aedy Fadly Ramly, Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) Sarawak director Cornelia Wong Chui, Batu Danau incumbent Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang, Limbang Division Resident Unus Tambi, and Limbang Division Public Works Department (JKR) engineer Louis Jonathan Philip. — DayakDaily
