KUCHING, July 9: The Office of Premier of Sarawak (OPS) has approved RM250,000 allocation under Kota Sentosa’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) fund to upgrade the existing earth drains at Lorong 7, Jalan Semaba here.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said seven months ago, the local residents had approached him to express their concerns of the worsening erosion of the earth drains which could collapse soon.
“Despite the increase in the number of residents moving into the area, the earth drains have never been upgraded for the last 15 years.
“Upon hearing the concerns of the residents, I immediately applied to use my RTP in the sum of RM250,000 to rectify the predicament faced by the residents,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, Yap together with Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) officers had visited the site for the drainage upgrading works.
During the visit, he has requested MPP officers to urgently complete the design and specifications of the said drainage upgrading works so that the project can be completed before the start of the rainy season.
Yap will also coordinate with MPP to ensure that there will be no delay in the implementation of this RTP project. – DayakDaily
