KUCHING, Oct 10: A RM250,000 Rural Transformation Project (RTP) to rehabilitate the drainage and pedestrian walkway at BDC Lorong B1, beside SK Satria Jaya in Taman Satria Jaya, has been completed.
The project, implemented by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and carried out by Syarikat Mercu Bina, commenced on Feb 17 this year.
It involved upgrading the existing drainage system and improving the backlane pedestrian walkway to enhance public safety, accessibility and environmental cleanliness.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, who inspected the site together with MBKS officers, expressed satisfaction with the project’s completion after initial delays.
“I am relieved that this long-awaited project is now completed. I would like to thank MBKS for their dedication and close supervision which ensured the project’s success.
“The improved drainage and walkway will provide greater convenience and safety for residents, especially school children and pedestrians in the area,” he said in a press release.
He added that the people-centric project reflects the Sarawak government’s commitment under the RTP initiative to improve community infrastructure and uplift living standards for the people.
Yap also assured that he will continue to work closely with MBKS and relevant agencies to identify and implement more community improvement projects under future RTP funding cycles for the Kota Sentosa constituency. — DayakDaily
