KUCHING, March 2: A ferry project at Nanga Tulie, costing RM23,499,634.97, is set to enhance connectivity and mobility for communities on both sides of Batang Rajang.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the Nanga Tulie Ferry Operation Project will provide a 24-vehicle-capacity ferry service, complete with new landing facilities to be built under a design-and-build model through negotiated tender.
In preparation for its implementation, a coordination meeting for the groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Kapit State Government Complex today to finalise technical, logistical, security and programme arrangements.
The meeting was organised by the Public Works Department (PWD) Kapit Division and attended by Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Kapit District Officer Thomas Geoffrey Kandawang, and representatives from related agencies.
The groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled to take place at Flat Ground Ramp A here on March 6, will be officiated by Works Minister and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Once operational, the ferry service is expected to boost socio-economic activities and ease daily movement for residents in Nanga Tulie and surrounding areas in Kapit.
The project is implemented by the Sarawak PWD under the Sarawak Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD). — DayakDaily
