The facility is expected to provide safer and more comfortable river transport access, particularly for residents who depend on waterways for their daily activities.

During the same visit, Nanta announced the RM200,000 allocation for repairs to the kitchen roof at Rumah Naga, as part of efforts to improve the comfort and well-being of the longhouse community.

Following the visit, he said rural development should go beyond providing physical infrastructure to ensure the needs and welfare of local communities continued to receive attention.

“Residents who need assistance or have suggestions for development projects are encouraged to submit their requests in writing or come directly to my office. Every request will be given due attention.

“Working closely with the assemblymen and political secretaries is important to ensure development projects are properly coordinated and the benefits reach the people who need them,” he said.

The visit was held in conjunction with the Gerakan Massa Masyarakat Desa (GEMA) programme organised by the Community Development Department (KEMAS) at Rumah Naga.

The programme brought residents together through activities including traditional sports, gotong-royong, handicraft demonstrations, exhibitions and safety and health awareness talks. —DayakDaily
