LUNDU, Dec 17: The government has approved a RM2.5 million project to upgrade, renovate, and expand Lundu Hospital, set to begin on April 1, 2026 and expected to be completed by Oct 1, 2027.
In a TVS news, Lundu Hospital director Dr Chin Shi How said the project will include new buildings for the Children’s and Maternity Wards, upgrades to the general wards, and the addition of a new isolation ward.
“We are grateful for this approval, which will enhance patient facilities and comfort across the hospital,” he said during the 2025 Dialysis Machine Handover Session at Lundu District Hospital today.
Dr Chin added that specific works will include replacing roofs, ceilings, and windows, upgrading toilets, and installing air-conditioning systems to create a safer and more conducive hospital environment.
“The project will greatly benefit the local community by improving access to modern, comfortable, and efficient healthcare facilities at Lundu Hospital,” he said.
In addition, Lundu Hospital received a hemodialysis machine from Sarawak Energy in collaboration with Sabati to meet the growing needs of dialysis patients.
“Lundu Hospital now has 12 hemodialysis machines capable of serving 62 patients, up from six machines previously serving over 30 patients.
“This donation will further improve the quality of healthcare services and ensure ongoing access to treatment for local patients,” he explained.
Dr Chin noted that the contribution not only strengthens dialysis services but also reflects continuous care and support for the district’s patient community.
