SIBU, Aug 20: The long-awaited upgrading project for the 300m road in front of SMK Sibu Jaya has finally been completed.
“This road upgrading project brings convenience to SMK Sibu Jaya and demonstrates the local government’s commitment to improving the quality of residents’ lives.
āWith the road’s new appearance and improved travel conditions, residents will enjoy a smoother and more convenient travel experience,” said the deputy chairman of the Sibu Rural District Council, Wong Ching Yong, today.
The completion of the upgrading work has also put an end to the long-standing issue of flooding during heavy rainfall.
Wong has raised the need for road upgrading in the Sibu Rural District Council multiple times, emphasising its significant impact on the lives of residents.
His efforts eventually gained recognition from the Sarawak government, allocating RM194,000 for the road upgrading project.
Before the commencement of the project, the road often experienced flooding during heavy rainfall.
“The upgrading work was completed within the past four days, showcasing the efficiency of the Sarawak government’s execution,” he said.
He emphasised that the project’s success results from close cooperation between the government and the people and a positive response to the residents’ demands. ā DayakDaily
