KUCHING, Sept 4: News saying that a RM1,500 fine will be imposed on those failing to ‘check out’ from premises using the MySejahtera app, that has been circulating on social media is not true, the Ministry of Health (KKM) said today.

“The viral graphic in WhatsApp is not true. The public will not be fined RM1,500 if they do not ‘check out’ in MySejahtera as stated in the graphic,” it said in a social post yesterday (Sept 3).

The feature to ‘check out’ from premises was an additional function in the new MySejahtera Version 1.0.45 released yesterday, allowing MySejahtera to track the duration of time a person is spending in any one location.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, when announcing this on Twitter Sept 2, only reminded the public to press the ‘check out’ button when leaving a place as it would ease data collection for contact tracing.

No fines or compounds were mentioned. — DayakDaily
