KUCHING, Jan 5: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the RM150 Bantuan Awal Persekolahan (BAP) will be credited on Jan 13 to all school students up to Form Six.

According to the New Straits Times (NST), the assistance covers students in primary and secondary schools, including Form Six, and is intended to ease early schooling expenses for parents.

Speaking at the Prime Minister’s Department monthly assembly today, Anwar said timely disbursement was crucial to ensure families receive support before the start of the academic term. He added that the government had instructed relevant agencies to ensure smooth implementation.

“The assistance may appear modest, but it has a direct and immediate impact on households, especially those managing multiple schooling costs,” he said.

Anwar also said that the government continues to focus on practical, people-centric measures that provide quick relief, alongside longer-term reforms to improve access to education and social support systems.
