LUNDU, Sept 24: Seven areas across the Opar constituency are getting an infrastructure boost through seven Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects worth RM1.395 million, covering upgrades to agricultural roads, riverbank embankments, drainage systems and culverts.
In a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the projects are currently at various stages of implementation, from initial site visits and final inspections to project handovers.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang led a visit to the project sites yesterday (Sept 23) to review progress and ensure the works meet the needs of local communities.
The site visits began at Kampung Bokah, where he inspected the final stage of the RM150,000 Punggu Penoak Phase 2 Agricultural Road Upgrading Project.
He then proceeded to Kampung Raso 1 to inspect the RM180,000 Riverbank Embankment Upgrading Project.
The visit continued at Kampung Raso 2, where the RM350,000 Agricultural Road Upgrading Project is at the initial site visit stage.
In Kampung Pasir Hulu, the RM65,000 project to upgrade the wooden footbridge to a concrete box culvert along Jalan Bedaun is at the handover stage.
Billy also inspected the final stage of the RM150,000 Jalan Samanar agricultural road upgrading project in Kampung Pasir Tengah.
Meanwhile, the RM350,000 Phase 1 Drainage System Upgrading Project in Kampung Tebaro is at the handover stage, while the RM150,000 Kampung Semapu Drainage System Upgrading Project is at the initial site visit stage.
The projects form part of efforts to improve basic amenities and rural infrastructure while ensuring local communities benefit from development initiatives.
The site visits also allowed relevant agencies to assess actual conditions on the ground, coordinate technical requirements for upcoming works and ensure completed projects are in good condition before being handed over for community use.
Also present were Sarawak Premier’s Political Secretary Niponi Undek, Lundu District Office Administrative Officer Mohd Syafiie Ahmad, Kuching Division Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) representative Ozella Mireng, and Pemanca Allen Manium Enggang. — DayakDaily
