KUCHING, Jan 20: The Sungai Krian Bridge, linking Pusa and Kabong, is expected to open by March this year, improving daily travel for local residents.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the RM1.25 million project is the ninth bridge targeted for completion this year.
“The construction of this bridge reflects the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening rural connectivity, particularly in coastal areas.
“The 1.2-kilometre Sungai Krian Bridge, including the connecting road sections, serves as a key link between the Pusa and Kabong districts, facilitating daily travel for residents and boosting local economic activities,” he said during the launch of the Sungai Krian Bridge connection project in Saratok today, according to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report.
Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, said improved infrastructure enhances accessibility and supports socio-economic development in rural communities.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, Beting Maro assemblyman Dato Razaili Gapor, Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, Krian assemblyman Friday Belik, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development Datu Chiew Chee Yau, Public Works Department (JKR) director Datu Dr Cassidy Morris, as well as community leaders from the Pusa, Kabong, and Saratok districts. — DayakDaily
