KUCHING, Nov 4: A man in his 70s in Kuching was swindled out of RM1.2 million—no thanks to an online investment scam he came across on social media.

According to a statement, the victim, who is a retired private sector employee, came across an advertisement on the ‘investment’ on social media in mid-March of this year.

He subsequently contacted the suspect and was added to a WhatsApp group named ‘(A-3) AI Intelligence Future Forum’, where he was offered a cryptocurrency investment through a website called ‘BACXN Exchange’ using the link www.bacxn.com.

The victim was then instructed to make several transfers in stages into bank accounts provided by the suspect, amounting to approximately RM1.2 million.

The victim realised he had been scammed when he was unable to withdraw the profits displayed on his BACXN Exchange investment account.

As of the time the police report was filed, the victim had not received any promised returns. — DayakDaily
