RM1.155 mln approved under RTP to upgrade 23 schools in Sarikei this year

KUCHING, Oct 9: A total of RM1.155 million has been approved under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to upgrade facilities of 23 schools in Sarikei in 2022.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) yesterday (Oct 8), Repok assemblyman Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii said from 2016 until 2021, a total of RM11.7 million in RTP funds was spent on schools in Sarikei.

He revealed this during the incentive presentation ceremony for 2021 STPM (Malaysian Higher School Certificate) Outstanding Student held at Service Center N.45 Repok on Saturday.

During the ceremony, a total of 21 students from SMK Sg Paoh, SMK St Anthony and SMK Bandar Sarikei received incentives for their outstanding examination results.

Huang also presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants worth a total of RM173,500 to 43 non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

He said the MRP grants showed that Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is also willing to help NGOs in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
