MIRI, Jan 25: Rumah Sabang Empungan at Km12, Jalan BLD Sungai Sawai and two estates in Suai Niah here have been placed under immediate lockdown after a Covid-19 case was detected recently.
The lockdown ruling which started today (Jan 25) will last until Feb 8, disclosed Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also minister-in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC), in a statement.
On another note, Lee also reminded the public in Miri to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health to ensure the safety of all.
He said, in order to control the potential for viral spread, members of the public are urged to continue to take appropriate precautions.
It is important to maintain good social distancing, wash hands with soap or sanitiser often and cover your mouth and nose with a face mask properly when around others in public places, including eateries.
“People should avoid ‘3C’ areas, namely crowded place, confined space and close conversation and instead practise ‘3W’ (washing hands, wearing face masks and practise caution by avoiding handshake), staying home and seeking treatment if you are developing symptoms related to Covid-19,” he said. — DayakDaily
