MIRI, August 2: A retailer was made more than RM30,000 poorer in a suspected case of credit card processing fraud.

The victim, who is in his 40’s, lodged a police report over the alleged fraud at Miri Central police station (CPS) here on Wednesday (August 1).

According to sources, the victim had rented a credit card processing machine from a friend for use at a sales expo.

Most of that day’s transactions involved credit cards where all sales and profits for that day were channelled into a bank account number given by the friend.

After the event wrapped up, when the victim attempted to check up on the transactions in the given bank account number, he found the account was empty.

Several calls were made by the victim to his friend were to no avail, as all his calls were unanswered.

Feeling worried, the victim then lodged a police report over the matter. — DayakDaily
