KUCHING, Feb 13: SUPP Kuching Youth urges Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei to respect the courts and the whole judicial system of the nation.

“If a seven to two majority decision in Federal Court is not respected, then where else is the root of our democracy system?,” said SUPP Kuching assistant publicity Eric Tay Tze Kok, questioning Wong over the comments he made on his personal Facebook account in response to the Federal Court’s decision to disqualify Democratic Action Party (DAP)’s Dr Ting Tiong Choon as Pujut assemblyman.

Wong had described the Federal Court’s ruling as posing “great challenges to the prospect of our democracy, particularly with the expanded power of the speaker.”

“Wong’s remark is just another tactical trick attempting to divert the attention of people, it just gave all of us a perception that DAP can’t afford to lose,” alleged Tay.

On the other hand, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching Youth complimented Dr Ting over his response after the Federal Court’s decision.

“Ting, despite the regret over his disqualification, accepted the court’s decision with an open heart, and declared that he respected and would abide by the decision. This is the kind of political ethics that we concur with,” said Tay. — DayakDaily
