Based on the latest analysis, eight main divisions have been highlighted as at risk, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Betong, Sri Aman, Sibu, Mukah, and Sarikei.

In the Kuching Division, the areas at risk include the Sarawak River Basin and several major tributaries such as Sungai Buntal, Sungai Kuap, Sungai Mongg, Sungai Minjap, Sungai Rayu, and Sungai Santubong, along with the downstream areas of Sarawak Kiri River and Sarawak Kanan River.

For the Samarahan Division, flood risk is concentrated around the Batang Sadong and Batang Samarahan basins, including areas near Sungai Bedup, Sungai Setabau, Sungai Simunjan, Sungai Entingan, Sungai Moyan, Sungai Semera, and Sungai Tuang.

The Serian Division is also at risk, particularly in low-lying areas along the Batang Sadong and Samarahan basins.

In the Betong and Sri Aman Divisions, areas within the Batang Saribas and Batang Lupar basins are under close monitoring due to rising river levels that may worsen with continued rainfall.

Flood-prone areas in Sibu, Mukah, and Sarikei Divisions include the basins of Batang Rajang, Batang Balingian, and Batang Oya, which are frequently affected by river overflows during prolonged rainy periods.

PRABN cautioned that the timing of flooding may occur earlier or later than projected, depending on rainfall intensity and river conditions.

Residents in at-risk areas are urged to remain vigilant and follow instructions from authorities and disaster management agencies.

The public is encouraged to obtain up-to-date and verified information through the official Public Info Banjir portal and the communication channels of relevant agencies to avoid misinformation and ensure personal and family safety. — DayakDaily
