KUCHING, May 8: A hiking trip at Bukit Selabat turned into a rescue operation after an adult woman in her 40s lost consciousness while trekking with a group of seven companions this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak received an emergency call at 6.10am and teams from Tabuan Jaya and Petra Jaya stations were immediately dispatched to the location, approximately 24 kilometres away.
Upon reaching the site, firefighters confirmed that the victim had fainted during the hike.
Due to the extremely steep and challenging terrain, the rescue team had to carefully carry her down using a piggyback technique to ensure safe evacuation.
Once they reached the base of the hill, firefighters transferred the woman onto a stretcher before transporting her to the designated registration area.
She was then handed over to the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team for further medical attention.
The rescue operation was brought under control at 9am and officially concluded at 9.20am. — DayakDaily
