MIRI, Oct 17: The repair work on the collapsed section of the Kejapil-Beraya Bakam Road is underway and expected to complete within 10 days, assured Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
Uggah was met after visiting the site today, where a section of the road collapsed eight days ago due to heavy rain.
A Miri Public Works Department (JKR) team is on site carrying out the repair works.
“We apologise to the rakyat that this unfortunate event happened during the monsoon season.
“We hope this road will be ready within 10 days,” he told a local media group during his visit.
Uggah also visited a house in Kampung Terahad Bekenu affected by the soil erosion that occurred adjacent to their home.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development and Lambir assemblyman Dr Ripin Lamat; Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Development and Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yun; and JKR director Richard Tajan. — DayakDaily
