KUCHING, Feb 6: Democratic Action Party’s Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei questioned Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for the latter’s silence in the solar energy graft case involving former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
“Is GPS aware of the alleged ‘political donation’ worth RM187.5 million alleged in the charge against former prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor?
“The charge against Rosmah was on an award of a solar energy project worth RM1.25 billion purported to benefit 369 schools in rural Sarawak.
“The opening statement of the DPP revealed that Rosmah allegedly reached a consensus on ‘political donation’ of RM187.5 million in return for Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd to obtain the said project.
“Such a huge project and scandal has been going around in Sarawak between year 2016-2017 during BN (Barisan Nasional) time. Do any of the leaders from former BN components parties, now called GPS, know about this?”
“Why did GPS, then BN, keep silent if they knew about the scandal? Do they condone such an act?” Wong asked in a statement today.
He said if none of the GPS leaders knew about the scandal, then Sarawakians could not trust them to protect the State’s interest.
“If none of them knew about it, how can the Sarawakians continue to trust that they (GPS leaders) will be able to safeguard the interest of Sarawak?
“Due to this scandal, Sarawak rural schools are still left with no power supply. GPS owes us an explanation,” said Wong. —DayakDaily
