“Coming from a remote and far-flung area in Kapit Sarawak, I see the true meaning of development as when government policies and initiatives reach the interior and transform the lives of the people,” Nanta said in a recent Facebook post.

“I believe that electricity supply is not just a basic convenience – it is the foundation for the future of rural children. And today, green technology provides a more sustainable solution.

“Since 2020, the Hybrid Solar System programme has been implemented in rural and interior schools in Sarawak involving 121 schools with an allocation of RM274.5 million.

“As of 2023, a total of 97 schools have been equipped with this system, another 15 will begin operating in November 2025, and the remaining 7 schools are expected to be fully completed in 2027,” he added.

This project benefits more than 3,000 students and 2,000 teachers, in addition to saving operating costs of up to 80 per cent or around RM90 million per year compared to using diesel.

“Seeing students learning in a more comfortable and stable environment really touches my heart.

“The concern of the MADANI Government gives value to this effort – development made with kindness and centered on the well-being of the people always carries greater meaning,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nanta had also taken the opportunity to visit nearby SK Lubok Bedil which was heavily affected by the flood disaster in Sarawak last year.

He noted that the flood has affected the continuity of the electricity supply and the daily operations of the school.

“I was informed that through the Hybrid Solar System Maintenance Project and the upgrading of the electricity supply system for rural schools in Sarawak (2025–2027) under the supervision of the Public Works Department, improvement measures will be implemented including raising the level of the power house structure by up to three metres to reduce the risk of repeated damage due to floods in the future,” he said.

He also said that short-term repairs have been implemented to ensure that temporary electricity supply can be supplied using generators. – DayakDaily
