BAU, Sept 13: Remedial measures, including the construction of drainage systems, are being implemented to address the flooding issues faced by residents of Taman Mawar, caused by the Jalan Jambusan project.

Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Maritime) Dato Henry Harry Jinep stated that the actions include constructing drains on both sides of the road, alongside the installation of larger culverts to manage water runoff from nearby land cleared for development.

ā€œOur efforts to resolve the problems faced by Taman Mawar residents are ongoing.

“Iā€™ve visited the site three to four times and maintaining direct communication with the locals to assure them that something is being done,ā€ the Tasik Biru assemblyman said during a press conference today.

He added that discussions with the project developer are ongoing to find a comprehensive solution to the issue.

Harry was responding to concerns raised by Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol, who highlighted that for months, unsanitary water has flooded the roadways near the project site, with conditions worsening during the rainy season.

Mordi pointed out that this has caused significant discomfort, inconvenience, and health risks for the community and road users.

He also alleged that multiple complaints lodged with the Bau District Council, Public Works Department (JKR), and Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) have yet to yield substantial explanations or resolutions.

In response, Harry called on Mordi to collaborate with the Bau District Office to resolve the issue.

ā€œWe are both in government, so letā€™s work together to help solve the peopleā€™s problems instead of making public complaints,” he said.

Earlier, Henry handed over native status certificates to 43 individuals at the Bau District Office. ā€” DayakDaily
