All the accused, a Turkish man aged 35, and two Syrian women aged 30 and 49, were not represented when produced in court yesterday.

The offence is framed under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.

The trio were detained in Sibu less than 24 hours after the alleged incident last Thursday. They were transported back to Miri for questioning.

On the day of the incident, at around 2.30pm, two women had walked into a goldsmith shop in Tudan and pretending to be customers before they took away two gold necklaces worth RM20,281 and weighing 90.14 grammes.

It was understood that they fled the shop in a rented car after one of them stole the valuables. — DayakDaily
