KUCHING, June 18: The Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) is in engagement with Curtin University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus on developing potential collaborations with industrial partners.

Recoda Facilitation and Coordination Manager Khairina Dawek, in an online meeting today, said the collaborations would focus on both job training to serve energy-intensive industries and to meet the needs of regional community stakeholders in Sarawak.

She said socio-economic development in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score) can be fostered by equipping workers with relevant technical knowledge.

Meanwhile, Curtin Malaysia pro vice-chancellor, president and chief executive Prof Simon Leunig welcomed discussions with any interested parties on possible collaborations, which may include research and development, consultancy, facilities sharing, interns or graduates recruitment and community services.

He said this because the university does carry out collaborations with industries, professional bodies in various ways, offering students exposure to industrial practices and encouraging industrial research.

UiTM Deputy Rector (Research And Industrial Linkages) Associate Prof Dr Abang Zainoren Abang Abdurahman and UPM Bintulu Campus Director Associate Prof Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini also agreed to future collaborations dependent on industry needs. — DayakDaily
