RC Pontoon Wharf upgrade in Bintangor to begin in October, completion scheduled for Aug 2025

KUCHING, Aug 29: The project to upgrade the RC Pontoon Wharf in Bintangor is slated to begin this October, with targeted completion set for August next year.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, Sarawak Minister for Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, said that the State government has allocated RM3 million for the project, which will be overseen by Sarawak Rivers Board.

He went on to say that the tender process for the project is scheduled to open on Aug 30, and that the upgrading work is expected to span 10 months.

“I hope that once the upgrading project is completed, it will provide comfort and ensure the safety of users,” he said during a work visit to the site in Bintangor on Aug 27.

In the meantime, Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, who accompanied the minister during the work visit, expressed his gratitude for the State government’s support.

“I hope the local community will appreciate the Sarawak government’s efforts in providing the facilities needed for their comfort and safety,” he said. — DayakDaily
