KUCHING, May 27: Visiting in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri among villagers of Kampung Tanjung Bundong Tradisi and Kampung Tanjung Bundong Lot Phase One and Two in Samarahan has triggered a new Covid-19 cluster which has been called the Tanjung Bundong Cluster, with 22 people confirmed positive so far.

According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the Tanjung Bundong Cluster is a community cluster.

SDMC said a total of 41 individuals have been tested whereby 22 individuals have tested positive including the index case, while the remaining 19 individuals tested negative for Covid-19.

SDMC disclosed that Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) has been implemented at Kampung Tanjung Bundong from May 24 to June 6 to curb the transmission of Covid-19.

In the meantime, all the positive cases have been referred to Sarawak General Hospital and admitted to a quarantine and low-risk treatment centre for isolation and treatment.

Meanwhile, three Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak were declared ended today, comprising the Jalan Maju Cluster in Sibu, Disso Cluster in Saratok and the Air Padang Cluster in Miri.

With the emergence of one new cluster and three clusters ended, there are now 85 active clusters in Sarawak.
