Rape suspect caught in Beluru after fleeing Sri Aman

MIRI, July 7: Police in Beluru, about 70km from here, have arrested a 29-year-old Indonesian man in connection with a rape case that happened in Sri Aman on July 2 this year.

According to Baram police chief, DSP Gabriel Risut, the suspect, who is a Bugis, was apprehended by police in an estate in Beluru District at about 11.30am yesterday, following a public tip-off.

It was believed the suspect fled to Miri after the rape episode to escape arrest.


The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape. — DayakDaily
