“The Sarawak State-Level Chinese New Year Celebration 2026 will be held on Feb 17 at BCCK, from 10am to 2pm.

“Rain or shine, there’s no excuse. Despite weather or parking concerns, people continue to show tremendous support. Last year, about 5,000 attended the Sarawak government’s Chinese New Year celebration,” he said at a press conference at Wisma Bapa today.

Dr Sim highlighted that the programme will officially begin at 10am, with the public welcome to arrive from 9.30am.

He also expressed gratitude to the organising committee, led by Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, for hosting the open house for the third consecutive year, in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“This annual celebration is an important platform to foster unity, mutual respect, and understanding among Sarawak’s diverse communities. It embodies the spirit of inclusivity and harmony that forms the foundation of our State’s strength and stability,” he said.

Dr Sim said that Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will grace the event, alongside representatives from the State’s various communities.

“Their presence underscores unity in leadership and a shared commitment to preserving peace and harmony in Sarawak’s multi-ethnic society,” he added.

The Deputy Premier also invited the public to join the celebration and embrace its values of togetherness and mutual appreciation.

“The organisation of this State-level celebration reflects the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening social cohesion, promoting inter-ethnic harmony, and ensuring continued stability. These pillars are vital for driving Sarawak’s development and long-term prosperity.

“We will continue to uphold and promote inclusive celebrations as part of our broader vision of building a progressive, united, and resilient Sarawak,” he concluded. — DayakDaily
