KUCHING, Oct 6: A combination of rain, high tide and water from the upper reaches of the Rajang River have caused several low-lying residential areas in Sibu’s coastal Salim and Stabau areas to be flooded early this morning.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) Sibu District reported that one house in Stabau was flooded on the ground with nearly waist-deep water outside the house, but the residents were not affected as they had moved upstairs.

Other areas affected include Rumah Joseph in Salim and Lot 217 Jalan Stabau.
