KUCHING, Aug 3: The Federal Transport Ministry will soon conduct a feasibility study on the viability of a railway system in Sarawak as the State has yet to have a rail network.
According to a Bernama news report, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said this after delivering his keynote address at the Women in Rail Malaysia Conference 2023 today.
He said current, the ministry is at the preliminary stage where the Sarawak Transport Ministry is discussing the issue with the Federal government.
“Probably we could apply for a budget in order for the study to be conducted for Sarawak,” Loke was quoted saying.
He said the Federal government is fully supportive of the vision and implementation of the Sarawak Transportation Masterplan and it is the hope of the Federal government that Sarawak succeeds in managing a better transportation network. — DayakDaily
