KUCHING, July 12: The widow of former Sarawak governor late Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, has claimed that she was barred from entering her home at Demak Jaya here when she returned to the State last week.

In an Instagram post today, she said she was surprisingly denied entry into her house and was turned away by security guards, who claimed that they had no authority to let her in.

“Last week, I flew to Kuching, excited to come back and to visit my beloved late husband. I planned to make ‘sedeqah jariah’ (charitable donation) in his name and then visit his grave.

“After Majlis Tautan Kasih Tun Taib in Satok, I drove home but to my surprise I was not allowed entry to my own house! We were turned away at the gate and the guards told me they did not have authorisation to let me in.

“But Alhamdulillah, the guard out of goodness of his heart let me in.. Allah will always protect and defend those who are oppressed,” she said.

Once she was inside, Raghad said she was saddened to see Taib’s grave seemingly unattended since his funeral, leaving it in a bad condition.

She also claimed that the guard who allowed her entry had been fired from his job.

“I have lodged a police report on this incident and have made the necessary court application. Please, I’m doing this with a heavy heart.

“I shouldn’t have to prove anything to anyone. He was my husband, but I have to record this shameful act done against me and demand justice.

“I know I haven’t been sharing my stories before, but I think it’s time to do so,” Raghad wrote in her post. — DayakDaily
