KUCHING, OCT 27: Professionals and students are being urged to register for the Rabies in Borneo Conference (RIB) 2023, to be held from Oct 31 to Nov 1, as it will offer 30 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to professionals and a special registration fee of RM100 for students.

CPD is a systematic maintenance, improvement, and broadening of knowledge, understanding, and skills and the development of personal qualities necessary for the execution of professional duties throughout an individual’s working life.

In a statement today, the director of the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak, Datu Dr Adrian Susin Ambud, elaborated that RIB 2023 is for professionals, students, and the community to learn about the latest rabies control and prevention strategies and to share their knowledge and experience.

He shared that the conference aims to elevate awareness of rabies prevention, vaccination, and control measures whilst emphasising the importance of responsible pet ownership.

“That is why RIB 2023 is important, as we bring together experts from around the world who can share the latest knowledge and best practices in rabies control and prevention, which our State can then use to develop new strategies to eliminate this deadly disease,” he said.

With the theme ‘Breaking Boundaries: One Health for Rabies Elimination in Borneo’, RIB 2023 will explore topics such as ‘Community-based Surveillance and Bite Management’, ‘Transboundary Diseases: Collaboration Between Malaysia and Indonesia’, ‘Immune Belt Enforcement Team: A Case Study of Sarawak’, ‘The Importance of Communication in Rabies Awareness’, and more.
