KUCHING, March 7: Betong Division Disaster Management Committee (BDDMC) stressed that any assistance to longhouses and schools in the division should be channelled via the committee for distribution.
Its chairman Friday Belik in a statement today said the move is to ensure that quarantine standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance and security of the longhouses, schools and its occupants are not jeopardised.
“This measure is also to protect all parties and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from being exposed to the occupants (sic).
“BDDMC shall ensure that all assistance will be distributed accordingly by the Betong Welfare Office,” he said.
Friday was responding to efforts by various political parties and NGOs who wanted to send assistance to longhouses and schools in Betong division which are currently under lockdown. — DayakDaily
