KUCHING, Dec 6: The Premier of Sarawak’s latest incentives announced during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting have lifted civil service spirits, sending a strong message that the hard work of those on the ground does not go unnoticed.
Political pundit Dato Peter Minos praised Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for recognising the ‘small men’ and valuing their contributions.
He highlighted several recent decisions, including the two-month bonus for Sarawak civil servants, the RM700 payment for federal civil servants and increased allowances for councillors, community leaders, senior chiefs, district chiefs and village heads.
“It goes to show that our Premier and the government of Sarawak do appreciate the efforts of all those who help in looking after and developing Sarawak,” he said.
Minos noted that civil servants work tirelessly across the State under harsh conditions, as well as work around the clock to keep essential services running, and their efforts must be acknowledged.
“The community leaders, especially the ‘ketua kaums’ (community leaders), also face village problems and complaints non-stop every day, doing their best to solve them. They slog on, all because they love the people and Sarawak,” he added.
He also highlighted his years serving in Samarahan, and now Serian, have shown him the heavy workload councils face from daily maintenance duties to tourism, beautification and town landscaping.
“We who are working for the government are very happy that the government does not take us for granted but appreciates our efforts—our sweat and tears,” Minos concluded. — DayakDaily
