KUCHING, Sept 14: Pulau Bruit in Daro District has the potential to become one of the key hubs for seafood and agricultural products in the central zone of Sarawak, says Datuk Abdullah Saidol.

“Towards the end of this year, the Premier of Sarawak is expected to present a larger budget.

“I am hopeful that farmers, fishermen, and livestock breeders will receive positive news through the increased budget allocation.

“This will also help improve irrigation systems, provide quality seeds, and offer subsidies for fertilisers, pesticides, and other necessities,” he said during his speech at the Pulau Bruit Festival 2024 opening ceremony held today at the Rural Growth Centre (RGC) commercial site in Semop, Daro.

The event, officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was broadcast live via Ukas’ Facebook page.

The Semop assemblyman added that the unused development facilities in Tanjung Manis will be repurposed to re-establish training and research centres for farming and livestock in the central zone.

Also present at the event were Abang Johari; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali; Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad; and Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab. — DayakDaily
