KUCHING, Nov 14: Members of the public who had been to Covid-19 infected business premises are advised to seek medical treatment or go for Covid-19 screening.

State Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing in a statement today said there was an increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the community recently.

He observed that in the past three weeks, there were many places in Kuching which had been visited by Covid-19 infected people before they experienced symptoms of the virus.

As a result, Dr Chin said those who had been to the infected business premises during a particular date are encouraged to monitor their own health information within 14 days after they visited the business premises.

He noted most of the Covid-19 patients just experienced mild symptoms and a few were asymptomatic.

Nonetheless, Dr Chin said those with mild symptoms for a potential virus carrier could pose a risk to family members which include elderly persons at home.

On another note, he said the public should not avoid business premises which had been declared as the Covid-19 infection area.

He explained that by the time the business premises announced to the public that it has been declared as an infected area, the business premises has been sanitised and cleansed.

Dr Chin said after the announcement by the business premises, the risk of exposure by the public to the virus is the same as it was before.

In the meantime, he extended his appreciation to the businesses who have come forward and shared information about the potential of Covid-19 infection to the public. —DayakDaily
