Public tip-off leads to arrests for suspected substance abuse

The suspects who were arrested by police for alleged substance abuse.

KUCHING, May 28: A man and a woman were arrested for suspected involvement in substance abuse at a house at Mile 17, Jalan Kuching-Serian.

According to Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, a team from Padawan Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) raided the house at 10am today following a public tip-off that there were drug abuse activities at the premises.

“Initial urine tests for both of them were positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. They were immediately arrested and are currently detained at Siburan and Beratok police stations,” Aidil confirmed in a statement.

The two suspects will be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile, Aidil also thanked members of the public for their concern and for assisting the police by providing information against crime-related activities.

“With this close corporation, between all parties, we can eliminate drug abuse because not only it is the root for crimes, but will ruin our future generations as well,” Aidil added. — DayakDaily
